• Garbage Time

Took the electrical and kitchen plans with me on a business trip to Las Vegas. I’ve been out of Israel often in the past few months, and start to worry that I might be out too often once we start construction. Probably won’t happen, but worrying is free, so why not enjoy it to the fullest?

We don’t meet with the architects as often or regularly as we used to when we just started planning, now it’s just a waiting period until we get the permits. At that point I guess we’ll get back to being busy, but meanwhile I feel bummed that we are out of the groove – Yuval and Shimon are occupied on other projects and not thinking about our house regularly. With my trips and Gali’s “busy season” in full swing, we shifted down gears all around.

The To Do list is not short or empty thou. I still owe Shimon my comments on the electrical plans, Gali didn’t see the kitchen plans yet, we should start looking for a project manager, etc.

I’m currently stuck on a plane in JFK, waiting for over three hours for take off. It’s raining outside and it’s not clear if it’s the weather or unionized airline hands unwilling to work in the rain that are preventing us from taking off.

I’m on the way to JCK Las Vegas, the biggest diamond and jewelry show in the US, which opens tomorrow. Luckily I have a laptop with me (I’m not a laptop kind of guy), so dead time can be converted into writing time.

Back to our home – the funny thing is that with all the talk about the project, my son Omri (quickly approaching three years old) is talking about what we’ll have in the new house: “I’ll have a big yard,” and “no, no, only in the new house I’ll have…” What a kid. He’ll have a serious tree house in the back yard.

I have great memories from the house I grew up in, my father still lives there and we all meet there once a week. I hope Omri will have great memories from the house, make it a place to come back too.
