Things are slowly progressing. We started to ask for bids while waiting for the regional committee to approve our application. We have a bid for the ‘skeleton’ as it’s called in Israel – the construction of the cement and bricks part of the house. We also have a bid for the water and swage system and looking for bids for the electrical system. These three elements are the very basics, and essentially the foundation of the house.
It looks like things are slowly moving forward again. After Yuval’s death, we decided to stick with Shimon, the architect that worked for him. After a period of getting organized, settling into a new office space and working out all the details with Yuval’s widow, Shimon and his wife (and partner) Gali are focusing again on the projects.
With the to-do list from the local committee, we corrected the plans, and I signed a contract with a construction debris removal firm and a cement testing company – both needed before getting the construction permit. We now need to get from the committee the text for a newspaper ad announcing the relief we are asking for – we are asking to build a little more on the ground floor than allowed – an increase from 30% to 32%.
Time to get things moving. It has been over a year since we started planning the house, we decided to take our time, but now, lets just move on.
