The Golan Home

We are building our home. It’s an exciting and somewhat scary project. I’ve been dreaming of building my own home since I was about 10 years old.

I collected photos of interesting examples and ideas, wrote notes and reminders for myself, saved newspaper clippings with articles of relevance, and always kept my eyes open to news ideas and inspiration when traveling in the world.

As long as it was far from execution, the ideas ran in many directions and it wasn’t until I actually had a real opportunity to move forward with this project that I realized that the different components I fantasized about did not form a coherent living unit.

Do not be alarmed! I’m not giving up on anything. It’s not that everything will be in there and a nutty house will eventually stand on my land. However, the spirit of it all will be there.

So here goes: The links at the bottom will lead you through it all. The basics of what, who and where and the starting point of ideas, the plans the architects are drawing, photos of the land and in the progression of work, a blog with our thoughts and reports, and relevant links.
