The Basics: Gali and I want a humble house that will serve as our home for the long haul. This is where Omri and his future siblings will grow up together with our dog Tallulah.
We defined it as a place with a warm and intimate atmosphere (you’ll be surprised, but these are things that have actual architectural manifestations), rich with vegetation, with plenty of sun and air, ecological, in a New Mexico / Hacienda style
What: a three bedroom single story* house with a big yard where kids can run through. Extra large children rooms, a big open kitchen and floor-to-ceiling windows that brings the yard right into the house. Wooden floors all over the place and a decent size basement.
Where: we have a 450 square meter (4,844 sq ft) corner lot in the small local council of Even-Yehuda, Israel.
Who: We are working with the architects office of Yuval Amir, where both Yuval and Shimon Yivgi are currently working on the house plans.
When: We started initial drawings in early January 2006, considering different basic layouts. Yuval and Shimon are trying to incorporate all our requests and try to make it work together.
As of January 19, we have a basic floor plan. Now we are focusing on it now, playing around with adding windows, changing small details and waiting to see a first rendering of the house from the out side.
UPDATE: We started construction July 2, 2007.
*One small exception – I wanted a study on the roof, which created a second floor. Its working name is The Captain’s Bridge.
